His sanctity, holy sermons and devotion to confession converted many souls, and he continues to inspire souls.

DISCOVERY This year’s slate of programs aims to persuade viewers of the need to protect sharks for their role in the oceans’ ecosystems. EWTN This two-part episode in Benjamin Wiker’s long-running series depicting intellectual encounters between Catholic saints and secular wrongdoers pits St. Joan of Arc (ca. 1412-1431) against Maximilien de Robespierre (1758-1794), a persecutor of the Church during the French Revolution. Part I re-airs Aug. 15, and Part 2 re-airs on Aug. 22, both at 6:30am.

At noon will be the Solemn Mass of the Assumption from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
